Azure Data and Analytics Architect

Position Description

The Azure Data and Analytics Architect will be responsible for standing up Azure Data Services to handle enterprise scale business intelligence solutions.  They will be part of a team responsible for the design, development, and deployment of enterprise applications using Microsoft Cloud technologies.  They will lead the migration of existing on-premises data warehouse solutions to the Azure Cloud, re-architecting the solutions as needed to leverage Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, Azure Analysis Services, Azure Synapse, and Power BI. The Architect will design relational and multidimensional database schemas, design and build OLAP (online analytical processing) cubes, apply data mining algorithms, write queries, and design reports. Responsibilities range from aggregating data from multiple sources in an efficient data warehouse to design enterprise-level solutions for multidimensional databases and surfacing such business intelligence information within Microsoft Dynamics 365 and SharePoint. 

Required Skills

  • At least 10 years of experience with data and business intelligence solutions.
  • Experience and understanding of developing and migrating multidimensional data architecture to Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience with at least some of the following:  Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, Azure Analysis Services, Azure Synapse, and Power BI
  • Experience designing, developing, and optimizing applications with numerous tables and complex business logic for data warehouse and data-mart solutions
  • Experience developing Azure SQL data warehouse and data lake with metadata-driven mapping to support customer analysis capabilities
  • Experience using SQL Service Integration Services (SSIS) to implement complex normalization and transformation logic to load data into a data warehouse from disparate data sources
  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI for data visualization and analysis
  • Experience using SQL Server Analysis Services functionality such as Cube Designer and Attribute Relationship Designer
  • Excellent understanding of, and experience creating, business reference models and data reference models
  • Strong written and communication skills
  • Experience working in an Agile Scrum environment

Desirable Skills

  • Microsoft Azure Data Services certifications
  • Experience working with federal government customers
  • Active federal government public trust clearance
