Microsoft Project Lead

Position Description

The Microsoft Project Lead will assume a hands-on role in the planning, oversight, and leadership of teams focused on developing and maintaining business applications developed on the Microsoft stack. The Project Lead will serve as a lead analyst for requirements gathering, be the primary point of contact to the end customer, and direct daily operations of the development team. They will actively ensure that risks are identified and proactively mitigated, and that issues are dealt with promptly in order to ensure that the project remains on schedule, on budget, within scope, and at or above the required level of customer satisfaction and quality. Specific tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Requirements analysis and user story creation
  • Management and coordination of one or more Agile development teams
  • Work directly with senior level business owners to drive future vision and ensure requirements are understood and well documented
  • Take a hands-on role to support analysis, design, and testing activities, as needed
  • Provide subject matter expertise on Microsoft technology (Power Platform, Dynamics 365, SharePoint) to the customer and development team
  • Facilitate weekly and monthly status meetings and reports
  • Develop and maintain project schedules
  • Actively identify and maintain issues and risks
  • Develop and facilitate lessons learned
  • Develop and support ongoing updates to project management documentation
  • Development and execution of communication management strategy and corresponding plan

Required Skills

  • At least 8 years of IT systems development experience, with at least 2 years of experience operating in a lead role
  • Experience leading Microsoft-based development teams of at least 5 resources
  • In-depth understanding and experience of project management practices and techniques in an IT systems development environment
  • Demonstrated experience managing software development teams following Agile methodologies
  • Proven ability to plan work and manage resources to achieve stated project goals and objectives
  • Experience managing projects involving Microsoft technologies, preferably Dynamics 365, Power Apps, Power BI, and SharePoint
  • Proven ability to work and negotiate with customers
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict within the project team

Desirable Skills

  • Prior experience as a Microsoft developer
  • Experience working on Federal government projects as a consultant
  • Certified Scrum Master
  • PMP Certification
  • Microsoft certifications
