Proposal Manager

Herndon, VA

Position Description

As the Proposal Manager you will develop and facilitate proposal schedules, outlines, task assignments, compliance matrices and will coordinate with writers and partners throughout proposal content development, submission, and debrief. You will leverage existing collaboration tools (Microsoft Office/SharePoint) as a means of establishing and managing standard proposal sites and reusable content. You will be instrumental in proposal resource planning and tracking as you work collaboratively with internal staff and partners to assign and balance workloads across demanding timelines. You will help develop new, distinctive, and innovative approaches that ensure compliance while clearly articulating how Procentrix delivers value to our clients and industry partners. You will ensure proposals are compliant and compelling and will facilitate recovery through color team reviews. You will assume a hands­on role in the review and edit of proposal documents, ensuring they are well organized, clear and concise and are written with a single voice. You will collaborate closely with the leadership team, gaining visibility into opportunity pipeline schedules so that you can effectively advise colleagues, plan for and prioritize submission responses based on due dates, and other factors. You will collect and debrief proposal outcomes, gaining insight on what we did well and where we could do better. You will lead efforts to analyze feedback gained through Government debriefs and internal reviews, and proactively enhance processes and implement strategies to improve and increase our probability of win.

Required Skills

  • Mastery of the English language
  • Minimum of an Undergraduate Degree, preferably in a field related to English, Business, Computer Science, or Communications
  • At least 7 years of experience in proposal development / management; 10 years plus preferred
  • Knowledge and experience of the Federal Government acquisition process and associated competitive proposal / bid processes (in a professional services context)
  • Experience managing winning proposal efforts for IDIQ's, Task Orders, and Contract opportunities
  • Strong critical reasoning and problem-solving skills and analytical abilities to identify trends in proposal activity
  • Outstanding editing and persuasive writing skills
  • High degree of presence, credibility and confidence in working with senior colleagues
  • Flexibility and the ability to handle ambiguity, deadline pressure, and conflicting requests
  • Self-motivation, with a talent for working entrepreneurially in an unstructured environment
  • Team orientation, with a strong sense of commitment to team members
  • Willingness to coach staff to improve their proposal writing skills

Desirable Skills

  • Experience managing / mentoring junior staff
  • Experience with graphical depiction of data
  • Experience with Oral Presentation development
