IT Project Manager

Position Description

The Project Manager will assume a hands-on role in the planning, oversight, and leadership of a team focused on maintaining mission-critical applications and collaboration portals. The IT Project Manager will actively ensure that risks are identified and proactively mitigated, and that issues are dealt with promptly in order to ensure that the project remains on schedule, on budget, within scope, and at or above the required level of customer satisfaction and quality. Performance of project management activities to be accomplished following those identified in the Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) best practices. This work requires on-site presence in Fayetteville, NC. Specific tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Management and coordination of 25+ person technical team
  • Oversight of multiple parallel Agile development teams
  • Daily interaction with customer to include senior management
  • Guide customer senior management in the effective use of Microsoft technologies, including SharePoint and Dynamics CRM.
  • Develop and present weekly and monthly status reports
  • Facilitate weekly and monthly status meetings
  • Develop and maintain project schedules
  • Actively identify and maintain issues and risks
  • Develop and facilitate lessons learned
  • Develop and support ongoing updates to project management documentation
  • Ability to ensure quality of work products and deliverables meeting / exceeding Performance Measures identified in the Quality Control Plan (QCP) and Quality Assurance and Surveillance Plan (QASP)

Required Skills

  • 10+ years of experience management IT projects / programs
  • Experience managing projects of at least 20 FTE
  • Experience managing IT systems development and support contracts within the Department of Defense
  • Experience managing projects involving Microsoft-based software development technologies
  • In-depth understanding and experience of project management practices and techniques
  • Demonstrated experience managing software development teams following Agile methodologies
  • Proven ability to plan IT systems development work and manage resources to achieve stated project goals and objectives
  • Proven ability to work and negotiate with customers
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict within the project team

Desirable Skills

  • DOD Secret Clearance
  • Certified Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Certified Scrum Master
  • Experience using Earned Value to manage project performance
  • Experience using ITIL Framework
  • Experience using Six Sigma DMAIC model for continuous improvements
