CM / Release Specialist

Position Description

Working as a member of the project team in support of systems and software configuration management and release management. Specific responsibilities include coordinating all release, software change management, and configuration management activities. Helps prepare for and attends CCB meetings. Prepare release work packages and deployment checklists. Oversees and reports on execution of releases. The focus of this position is to ensure a well-documented and communicated baseline and versioning of the applications and systems being developed through deployment.

Required Skills

  • 6+ years of experience working in IT systems development environments.
  • Experience with build release engineering and/or configuration management.
  • Experience working with automation tools that will be used to build, integrate, and deploy software releases to various platforms. This includes client and server install scripts as well as build and automation scripts using tools such as Rational Jazz Suite, PowerShell, MSBuild, and TFS
  • Ability to analyze, plan, and assist the development and architecture teams with the design of release packages for deployment. Collaborate with the development and architecture teams on the setup and configuration of a continuous integration build system
  • Strong understanding of build and release management tools
  • Understands CM concepts including versioning, branching / merging, and continuous integration

Desirable Skills

  • Experience on software development projects for federal government customers.
